Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Emily Burns has been tipped as one to watch in 2020. She has been likened to artists such as Tove Lo, Sigrid and Kehlani, and has just released pop anthem ‘Hello.’ Having completed a European tour with James Arthur, she was due to set out on her largest headline tour around the UK in April, but is now live-streaming to her fans every evening instead.

THURSDAY: CLOSER IN CRISIS VIRTUAL BENEFIT CONCERT

NYC-based Sound Mind are launching their ‘Closer in Crisis’ virtual benefit concert at midnight GMT. The group, which raises awareness about mental health in music, have postponed their annual festival and want to use this online concert to build a community of support and open dialogue around mental health during the coronavirus pandemic. Performers will include Chad Urmston of Dispatch, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Foy Vance, Langhorne Slim, Jade Bird and Ballroom Thieves. They are taking donations to support COVID-19 mental health programmes and other services for the music community.

The French singer-songwriter has been streaming a plethora of characteristically weird and wonderful singing/dancing videos from her minimalist apartment every night of lockdown. She manages to blur the lines between theatre, singing and dance just as effectively from her living room as she does on stage, with her unique brand of thought-provoking electronic pop and playfulness with ideas around gender, identity and sexuality.

Global Citizen and the World Health Organisation are joining forces for a major music broadcast event in collaboration with Lady Gaga, featuring Alanis Morisette, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Elton John, and loads more artists to support global response efforts to the Coronavirus. The music is free to stream but they are asking that viewers ‘Take the Pledge to Stay at Home’ on their website. 

SUNDAY: LISSIE

American folk-rock artist Lissie is going live on veeps.com and is promising to ‘dig deep’ and perform some of her most highly requested songs that she never normally plays. She will be donating 20% of the proceeds to the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization, Meals on Wheels and the Secoya Coronavirus Isolation Fund. Admission is ticketed and donations start at $5.
