AIM MUSIC AWARDS 2022: VOCAL GIRLS TO RECEIVE THE LOCAL HERO AWARD

Past recipients of the award include Tramlines Festival, The Young Musicians Project, and Save Our Scene.

VOCAL GIRLS have been put forward for the Local Hero category of the AIM Independent Music Awards 2022. The ceremony, which will take place on 28 September at The Roundhouse in London, has championed independent artists, labels, and outstanding individuals since 2011.

The Local Hero Award recognises those who have committed unwavering support for their local music community. The category is nominated by BBC Music Introducing presenters across the nation, who select the winners based on making lasting change and providing support, expertise, or funds.

While VOCAL GIRLS were put forward by BBC Introducing London for championing female and non-binary artists, other notable winners include the likes of The Leadmill (BBC Introducing Sheffield), ARXX (BBC Introducing Sussex and Surrey), and Wild Paths Festival (BBC Introducing Norfolk).

The awards are hosted by AIM, the not-for-profit body exclusively representing the UK’s independent music sector, which makes up a quarter of the recorded market. In it’s 21st year, AIM’s members range from respected record labels and associated music businesses to self-releasing artists up and down the UK.
